While most teens choose not to drink alcohol or use drugs, it is important to realize that there are steps parents can take to help prevent alcohol and drug abuse.

Guests will also hear about a positive campaign that is making a difference in schools and will soon be launching at Hersey.

Parents of District 214, its feeder schools and staff are all welcome to this event that begins at 7 p.m. and will take place in Hersey’s cafeteria, 1900 E. Thomas St. in Arlington Heights.

Presenters include Jorie Ouimet and Danielle Strauss, of the Link Together Coalition, and Pete Hamrick, a Hersey High School Resource Officer.

The Link Together Coalition, an organization that supports drug and alcohol-free youth, is working with Hersey to put on the event after receiving two grants to help prevent drug and alcohol use in teens.
