Holiday Tree Lighting 2023: Join Arlington Heights For Festive Night

The annual event is planned for Nov. 24 with festivities at Harmony Park and the tree lighting at North School Park.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The annual holiday tree lighting will include fun activities at two Arlington Heights parks this year. The event, organized by the Village's Special Events Commission and the Arlington Heights Park District, is planned for Friday, Nov. 24, at Harmony Park and North School Park.

The tree lighting at North School Park, which will include Mayor Thomas Hayes and Arlington Heights Park Board President Maryfran Leno, is scheduled for 5 p.m.

According to the Village, a trolley filled with Dickens era characters will begin looping between the two parks starting at 3:45 p.m. through 6:45 p.m. The characters will be sharing stories of Arlington Heights past.

Here is the schedule for each park:

North School Park

  • 4:30 p.m.: See Park District Vibe Dance Group and hear Hersey School Dickens Carolers.
  • 5 p.m.: Arlington Heights Park Board President Maryfran Leno and Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas W. Hayes will welcome guests, followed by the lighting of North School Park.

Harmony Park (4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.)

  • See ice carvers in action as they carve holiday themed ice sculptures.
  • Get up close to real life reindeer
  • Walk inside a giant globe ornament of lights
  • Take pictures at photo stations
  • Get a professional photo taken for free

With regard to parking, the Village said nearby parking lots will offer free parking to event goers, but the parking garage at Eastman and Evergreen can become congested during this event. Visit the Tree Lighting Parking Map to find parking opportunities and plan ahead.
