Kilmer students, families celebrate start of new school year
Kilmer Elementary School welcomed students and families for an Open House and Ice Cream Social in advance of the first day of school.

Kilmer Elementary School welcomed students and families for an Open House and Ice Cream Social on Thursday in advance of the first day of school. The event allowed students to meet their teachers and celebrate the start of the new school year.
New to the Open House this year was a Resource Fair. Representatives from the Buffalo Grove Park District, Indian Trails Library, CCSD21 Family Learning Program, Harper College and other organizations had information about their programs available for families.
Kilmer staff members who are helping to prepare for the school’s 50th anniversary celebration were also represented at the Resource Fair. The celebration is planned for Saturday, October 17. More information will be available in the coming weeks on the Kilmer website, www.kilmer.ccsd21.org.

“We have a great year ahead and we’re excited for students to return on Monday,” said Principal Diana O’Donnell. “The Open House is a great way for students to reconnect and for families to meet and learn more about all of the great partnerships and resources we have available in our community.”
