Leopardo Companies’ Staff Assembles CareBoxes for Survivors

Over two sessions in two different locations, employees from Leopardo Companies volunteered their time to assist the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance (IFSA) and assembled comfort kits that will be distributed to those being treated for burn injuries in Burn Units across Illinois.

The IFSA’s CareBox program launched at the beginning of 2019 to provide a small bit of comfort to those going through trying times. The boxes are assembled by corporate or community groups and then distributed to hospitals that specialize in treating burn injuries. The boxes when completed, contain essential toiletry items as well as books, activity magazines, paper, crayons, pens and blankets and will be made available to the patients and family members that are staying at the hospitals. The box assembly process makes for a great team building or a fun activity for businesses, groups, or clubs, while also making a direct impact on those that have been affected by a burn.

When learning about the new IFSA initiative, Leopardo Companies jumped at being the first to build the boxes. In May, more than two dozen Leopardo volunteers at their Hoffman Estates and Chicago locations assembled a total of 100 CareBoxes. These boxes will be divided and distributed to three of the several Burn Units located across the state of Illinois. As additional boxes are created, they will be spread further across the state to additional hospitals.
