Local McDonald’s Owner Donates to Military Veterans
In honor of Memorial Day, local McDonald's owner Tanya Lawrence and her family give back to those who served
This past weekend to honor Memorial Day, residents of Arlington Heights and surrounding communities started the summer off on the right foot with the Salute 5/10k event in Arlington Heights. Taking place on Sunday, May 27, the race raised funds for Salute, a Palatine-based organization that is dedicated to meeting the financial, physical and emotional needs of injured military service members, veterans and their families. Thomas Hayes, mayor of Arlington Heights, attended the event.
With the generous help of local McDonald’s owner/operator Tanya Lawrence and her family, along with other sponsors, participants were treated to pancake breakfast taking place before the race. In order to further support this organization and give back to our country’s veterans, the Lawrence family donated 2,000 cooked sausage patties to the pancake breakfast taking place before the race. McDonald’s also distributed 2,000 buy-one-get-one coupons for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, now made with fresh beef.
Tanya and her family, who operate several McDonald’s restaurants in the suburban Chicago area, have a respected reputation for supporting their local communities. In addition to supporting Salute Inc, they also support local schools, youth programs and first responders throughout the northwest suburbs of Chicago. In June, Tanya and her family will also be supporting the 11th Annual Lake Zurich First Responders Breakfast, which benefits the South Lake County Emergency Response Team.
