Man, 19, Shot At While Inside His Car Waiting For Friend: Wheeling PD

WHEELING, IL — A 19-year-old man was shot on Monday night while sitting inside his car waiting for a friend to leave a nearby apartment. According to the Wheeling Police Department, the car was parked in the 800 block of McHenry Road, in the Colonial Townhomes Subdivision, at 10:59 p.m. when the incident occurred.

Police said the victim was taken to Glenbrook Hospital by Wheeling Fire Department paramedics with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Investigators spoke with witnesses who reported seeing several people exit a vehicle that had pulled up next to the victim's car. One of them then fired several shots into the victim's vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Police said there appears to be no clear motive for the incident at this time, as the victim was simply waiting to pick up a friend.
