Man Arrested for Holding Two Women at Knife-Point, Attempting to Hijack Car
The Arlington Heights man is accused of attacking the women during two separate incidents in recent days.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL - An 18-year-old Arlington Heights man is accused of holding two women at knife-point in recent days.
Police said Julio Cesar Ponce-Patino, of the 2200 block of Lake Cook Road in Arlington Heights, attempted to rob the first woman at knife-point in the 1400 block of West Rand Road on Saturday. He is accused of accosting a second woman at knife-point in the 700 block of West Rand Road on Monday and demanded she turn over the keys to her vehicle, police said. He was scared off when the woman started screaming and fled on foot, according to an Arlington Heights Police Department press release.
“An eyewitness, coupled with a quick response by AHPD (Arlington Heights Police Department) patrol officers, is credited with apprehending the suspect a short distance away,” according to the news release.

He is charged with attempted aggravated vehicular-hijacking and attempted armed robbery. His bond has been set at $400,000 on both charges.
He is next expected in court on March 24.
