Man Shot Multiple Times While Attending BBQ At Park: Mount Prospect PD
An argument between the victim and two other men preceded the Sunday night shooting, according to police.
MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A 33-year-old man was shot multiple times Sunday night while attending a barbecue in the park area north of the RecPlex, 420 Dempster St. The incident was preceded by an argument between the victim and two men.
According to Mount Prospect police, the victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where he was treated for his wounds. The wounds are believed to not be life-threatening. No other people have been reported injured from the incident.
At 10:16 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the BP gas station, 800 South Elmhurst Road, Des Plaines, for a report of someone being shot. An initial investigation has revealed the victim was attending the barbecue when the two people, who were known to the victim, approached him.

Police said the two people began arguing with the victim, produced a handgun, and then started shooting at the victim. The victim was shot multiple times and fled toward the gas station. Both men, described as white with blonde colored hair, fled the area in a white older model Chevrolet conversion van in an unknown direction. Crime scene technicians processed the scene and with the assistance of the Rolling Meadows Police Department K9, multiple shell casings were located.
