The fire was reported at about 6:15 a.m. at the former Power Plastics Recycling Center, which is located in the 1400 block of east Davis Street, according to the Daily Herald. The blaze had broken through the roof of the warehouse by the time firefighters arrived.
The building, which has stood at the location for 51 years and is valued at $1.7 million, has been deemed a total loss and will need to be torn down, Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes told the Daily Herald. No one was injured in the blaze.
The blaze lead to road closures in the area. Arthur was closed from Northwest Highway to Central, and Davis is closed from Northwest Highway to Cleveland.
