Meet two authors creating buzz in YA fiction

Author Event: Breaking the YA Mold: An Evening with Cammie McGovern and Julie Murphy

Fans of A Fault in Our Stars, Eleanor and Park will definitely want to check out the work of Cammie McGovern and Julie Murphy.

Their debut YA novels, Side Effects May Vary (Julie Murphy) and Say What You Will (Cammie McGovern), received tons of critical acclaim and industry buzz. Their new books areDumplin’ and A Step Toward Falling.

Doors open at 6:30 with light refreshments. A discussion with the authors will be followed by a book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Co-sponsored with the Book Stall. For teens in grades 7-12.

About the Authors

Both authors burst onto the scene in 2014 with their debut YA novels, Side Effects May Vary (Julie Murphy) and Say What You Will (Cammie McGovern). With their sophomore efforts, Julie and Cammie are poised to breakout, defying YA tropes and bringing two refreshing voices to the YA landscape.

In Dumplin’, we meet Will, a self-proclaimed fat girl who has always been at home in her own skin. It’s only when Will’s feelings for the cutest boy in school are reciprocated that her confidence is shaken. In A Step Toward Falling, Cammie has once again created characters with memorable voices, especially Belinda, a character with developmental disabilities, who has a voice that rings true in such a genuine way that it shines through the page to capture the imagination and hearts of readers.
