Moriah Purim Carnival
The Moriah Purim Carnival in Deerfield for families, kids, teens and toddlers will feature carnival games, prizes, and a FREE Toddler Zone
Moriah Congregation in Deerfield, Illinois will celebrate the Purim holiday with its always popular Purim Carnival and lunch on Sunday, March 1, 2015. The carnival runs from 10:30am until 1:00pm at the synagogue, 200 Taub Drive in Deerfield.
In addition to its regular ticket deals, the carnival will also feature last year’s popular “Unlimited Fun Bracelet”, which will allow the wearer unlimited games for the entire carnival. Children who arrive in costume will receive five free prize tickets.
Purim, or the Feast of Lots, is a joyous holiday which recounts the thwarting of a plot to destroy the Jewish People in ancient Persia. The Book of Esther, named for the heroine who saved her people, recounts the story. The holiday is traditionally celebrated with joy and humor and with the giving of gifts to friends and the poor.
Thanks to a generous annual donation, Moriah’s Purim Carnival is known for having the highest quality prizes in the Chicago area. As organizer Joel Mehr explained, “Last year we were pleasantly surprised with how many families came from all over the area because they heard about our original games and high quality prizes. We are fortunate to have such great support from our community.”
The event will feature a bounce house, carnival games and even a free toddler zone with unlimited arts and crafts, “Tot Town” inflatable play area, and face painting. Back by popular demand, last year’s “Purim Jail” will allow mischievous kids to put their siblings and parents away for 5 tickets.
The event will also feature a fundraising sale of homemade Hamantaschen, baked and sold by Moriah’s USY chapter. All proceeds go to “Tikun Olam,” USY’s Tzedakah Fund. As always, complimentary Hamantaschen will be served with every meal purchased, while supplies last.
There is ample parking and the general public is invited to attend. For more information, please visit www.moriahpurimcarnival.com or call the synagogue office at (847) 948-5340.
