National Prescription Take-Back Initiative, Sept. 26
Arlington Heights Police will be collection out-of-date prescription and over the counter meds on Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Arlington Heights Police Department will coordinate efforts to remove potentially dangerous drugs from homes at the National Prescription Take-Back Initiative held Saturday, September 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Police Department, 200 E. Sigwalt Road.
This event provides a great opportunity for the public to surrender unwanted, expired and unused pharmaceuticals, as well as unwanted over-the-counter medication, to law enforcement officers for safe and proper disposal.
The service is free and anonymous. Tablets, capsules and all other solid dosage forms will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted. The positive national response to this program over the last nine events from 2010-2014 has resulted in the removal of more than 4,823,251 pounds (2,411 tons) of prescription medication from circulation.
