Free Webinar (Provided by Northwest Community Healthcare)

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, parents of children pre-teen and older can join a free, virtual webinar titled HPV: Know the Facts, recorded by Pamela Seegert, BSN, R.N., nurse manager with NCH Medical Group’s Pediatrics team. The webinar can be accessed at nch.org/hpvwebinar.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is common. Nearly all men and women may be exposed in their lifetime. The HPV vaccine is available for boys and girls starting at age 11 up to the age of 45. The vaccine protects against HPV, in addition to nearly 150 viruses that can lead to six types of cancer: cervical, throat, penile, anal, vaginal and vulvar cancer. Often these types of cancer are not detected until health problems start.

In this presentation, Seegert will discuss why the vaccine is important, its benefits as well as its safety record. She will also address questions from the public that may be submitted at nch.org/HPVwebinar no later than October 15.
