Nearby Shooting Locks School Down In Des Plaines: Police
Central School was temporarily secured "out of an abundance of caution" Monday morning, according to police.

DES PLAINES, IL — An elementary school went on lock down temporarily Monday morning following a report of shots fired near the campus. According to police, Central School was secured for a time by Community Consolidated School District 62 "out of an abundance of caution." The school is located at 1526 Thacker St.
Police responded to the 1500 block of Walnut Avenue at around 11:15 a.m. for a call regarding shots fired in the area. An initial investigation revealed no one had been injured, with police believing it to be an isolated incident.
Police are encouraging residents to contact the Des Plaines Police Department at 847-391-5400 if they have any information regarding this incident.
