Nickoll Knoll, Melas Park Atop Picks for Dog Park
Two locations for a dog park in Arlington Heights will be further researched and presented at the Aug.14 park district meeting.

With more than 5,000 dogs registered in Arlington Heights, a dog park would potentially draw users and the park would pay for itself.
The has narrowed down the field of possible locations for a dog park to Nickoll Knoll and Melas Park, citing these spots to be geographically beneficial to residents and cost-effective compared to other proposed sites.
The park district has estimated $200,000 to $400,000 for a dog park, which would pay for water, electricity and fencing.

The park will be added to other long-term capital planning projects, if the park district board decides to ask voters for an tax increase this November. The board plans to make a final decision on a referendum package at the Aug. 14 meeting.
According to the Illinois Election Code, the deadline to put referendum on the November ballot is Aug. 20.
