No Drones at School: D214 Board OKs New Rules for Students

The school board also approved measures designed to use in-school suspensions more.

In an effort to change its disciplinary code, the Township High School District 214 board approved Thursday the addition of some new student regulations, as well as enacting policies designed to use in-school suspensions more, the Daily Herald reports.

Some of the rules, according to the Herald, include:

  • no drones on school property
  • no taking pure caffeine as either a drug or a powder
  • no school fraternities, sororities or secret societies

The school board also created measures that would make it harder to hand down expulsions and out-of-school suspensions to students but not eliminate those disciplinary tactics. These measures follow the guidelines set up by a new state law that pushes educators to use in-school suspension because it allows students to receive counseling and tutoring from teachers and social workers.
