Prospect Heights District 23 Teachers Strike; No School Wednesday

The strike was announced early Wednesday.

Classes have been cancelled Wednesday within Prospect Heights District 23 after teachers went on strike.

The strike comes after the school board and the Prospect Heights Education Association, which represents the teachers, failed to reach an agreement for a new three-year contract late Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reports. The association announced the strike at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“The Board of Education is extremely disappointed and remains willing to negotiate for a fair and equitable contract,” according to a statement posted on the Prospect Heights District 23 website.
