Palatine Girl, 12, Fatally Struck By Car In Schaumburg: Police

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A 12-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car while walking Monday night near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Thoreau Drive.

The deceased has been identified as Angela Guan, of Palatine, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said they were called to the scene of the accident involving one car at around 5:08 p.m. Guan was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, to which she would succumb.

The intersection was closed until early Tuesday morning for an investigation. Motorists were asked to take alternate routes.

"We are conducting a thorough investigation of this tragic loss of life," Schaumburg police said in a news release.
