Pedestrian Dies From Injuries After Being Struck By Car On Highway: Police

The 38-year-old Palatine resident died Thursday after being hospitalized following the incident earlier this week on Northwest Highway.

PALATINE, IL — A Palatine man has died from injuries sustained earlier this week when he was struck by a car while walking on Northwest Highway. Zishan S. Ladha, 38, was rushed to an area hospital following the Tuesday night incident and succumbed to his injuries Thursday, according to the Palatine Police Department.

A preliminary investigation, supported by a witness statement, indicates Ladha was crossing Northwest highway on foot at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the 0-100 block of Northwest Highway, near the intersection of East Wilson Street. He was traveling northbound in the curb lane, outside a crosswalk, and was wearing dark clothing.

Ladha was struck by a gray Buick Enclave, driven by an 81-year-old man. Police and Palatine firefighters found Ladha lying unresponsive in the roadway. Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. As of Thursday afternoon, no citations have been issued.

The northbound lanes of Northwest Highway, between East Palatine Road and East Wood Street, were closed for nearly three hours Tuesday while police conducted the on-scene investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Palatine Police Department, with the assistance of the MCAT Serious Traffic Crash Accident Reconstruction team.
