Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By SUV In Mount Prospect
Police are still working to identify the deceased man.
MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A male pedestrian was killed early Sunday after being struck by an SUV on Algonquin Road (Route 62) near Linneman Road. Police found the man lying in the parkway at around 12:05 a.m.
The preliminary results of an investigation, released on Tuesday by the Mount Prospect Police Department, reveal a Chevrolet Trax was traveling eastbound Algonquin Road east of Linneman Road. Driven by a 58-year-old Des Plaines resident, the SUV struck the pedestrian who was crossing Algonquin Road near 1449 E. Algonquin Road.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the news release. The driver of the Chevrolet Trax was not injured as a result of the crash. The police department is still working to identify the identity of the deceased pedestrian.

This traffic crash is currently being investigated by the Mount Prospect Police Department Major Crash Investigation Team, along with the assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, according to the news release. The Mount Prospect Police Department requests anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information to contact the department’s Major Crash Investigation Team at 847-870-5656.
