Woman Killed After Being Struck By Metra Train In Mount Prospect

The Tuesday afternoon incident closed the crossing at Emerson Street for several hours.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Maple Street. Police said the crossing at Emerson was blocked for several hours following the incident.

The name of the 58-year-old Mount Prospect resident has not been released. She was pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Metra police investigating the incident. Inbound and outbound train movement was halted for a time as train No. 619 was involved.
