Pending Snowstorm Closes Arlington Heights Area Schools

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Add Township High School District 214 (Arlington Heights) to the growing list of Chicagoland area schools closed Friday due to a pending snowstorm. With upwards of 8 inches predicted in some areas, "travel could be very difficult to impossible,"according to the National Weather Service.

- Metro Prep/Laureate Day School (Arlington Heights) — closed, e-learning
- Township High School District 211 (Palatine) — closed
- New Connections Academy (Palatine) — closed, e-learning
- Community Consolidated School District 59 (Elk Grove Village) — closed, e-learning

Due to predicted severe weather conditions, all schools in District 214 will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 12. After-school activities, athletic events, and programs are canceled Friday, January 12, through noon on Saturday, January 13.

In Arlington Heights, temperature fare expected to fall to near 25 by 9 p.m. NWS predicts wind could gust as high as 20 mph with a 100 percent of precipitation Thursday night. Nighttime snow totals could be between 1 and 2 inches.

For Friday, snow is predicted throughout the morning, before mixing with rain between noon and 3 p.m. NWS said snow could be heavy at times, with snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches.
