Armed Person Barricades Self In Schaumburg Following Shooting: Police

Police rendered aid to the victim, who was then taken to an area hospital for treatment following the Wednesday afternoon incident.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A person was shot Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of S. Braintree Drive, closing the roadway in both directions. Police rendered aid to the person, who was then taken to an area hospital for treatment.

At 4:47 p.m., police said they are on the scene of an armed barricaded person at the location, who is believed to be involved in the shooting. Police are utilizing the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System to provide assistance.

"Residents in close proximity to the location are asked to stay inside their homes for their safety," police said in a social media post.

Police said they don't believe anyone else is involved in the shooting.

In a social media post sent out at 3:39 p.m., the Village of Schaumburg said the Braintree is closed from Cornell Lane to Cambridge Drive. Police said the roadway remains closed at 4:47 p.m.
