ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL―A well-being check over the weekend led to police taking a woman to the hospital after it was reported she was despondent with a gun in her home, according to reports.
Crews from the Arlington Heights police and fire departments converged at about 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, to the 200 block of South Highland Avenue, after they received a report from the friend of the woman in her late 30s, the Daily Herald reports. The friend told police that she had been texting with the woman, who sounded despondent and was in her home with legally owned firearms, the report added.
Officials evacuated neighbors' houses and set up a perimeter around the area, according to Journal & Topics Newspapers. Authorities were able to convince the woman to come outside at around 1 p.m.
