Police Search for Suspect in Sexual Assault During Rolling Meadows Break-In

Arlington Heights police alert residents about the weekend incident and release a sketch of the suspect from Rolling Meadows PD.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Authorities released Wednesday a composite sketch of a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a home invasion over the weekend in Rolling Meadows.

The attack happened early on Saturday, Jan. 14, in the area of Algonquin Road and Algonquin Parkway, the Rolling Meadows Police Department said in a community alert sent out by Arlington Heights police. The suspect, who was armed with a knife, forced his way into the victim's apartment after knocking on her door.

Once inside, the suspect, who tried to conceal his face during the incident, allegedly sexually assaulted the victim, police said. He then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect fits the following description, according to police:

  • a Hispanic man
  • between 5 feet and 5 feet, 1 inches tall
  • weighing about 160 pounds
  • wore dark clothing

Police are investigating a possible connection between the suspect in this weekend's attack and a similar incident last month in Rolling Meadows, the Daily Herald reports. In the early morning of Dec. 28, an unarmed man broke in to an apartment in the 5000 block of Weber Drive through an unlocked and slightly open bedroom window while the victim was sleeping, the report added.

The suspect orded the victim to give him money, but he was interrupted when another apartment resident walked in, the report stated. The suspect — he also wore dark clothes and tried to conceal his face in this incident — escaped the apartment by jumping out the bedroom window and then fleeing on foot, the report added.

Anyone with information regarding the sketch should call the Crime Tip Hotline at 847-506-6024, or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 847-590-7867.
