Prospect Heights Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting DePaul Student With Mental Disabilities

The woman has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, prosecutors said.

A 19-year-old Prospect Heights man is accused of sexually assaulting a student with mental disabilities at a DePaul University student apartment facility on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Bond has been set at $50,000 for Joseph Annel who is charged with two counts of felony sexual assault for accusations he invited the 22-year-old woman over to his apartment on Friday to watch a movie, removed her pants and underwear before touching her inappropriately, according to the newspaper.

Annel, who is also a student at DePaul, lived in the same apartment complex as the woman who prosecutors said has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old. Annel is expected back in court on Monday.
