Prospect Heights Woman Dies In Condo Complex Fire
Fire officials said the 65-year-old woman lived alone and succumbed to her injuries from the Friday morning fire.
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, IL — A woman died as the result of injuries sustained in a Friday morning fire at a five-story condominium building, located at 16 E. Old Willow Road. She was identified as Elzbieta Kasprzycka, 65, Friday evening by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Fire personnel were dispatched to the fire at around 6:42 a.m. following a report of smoke in the building. The initial crews entered the building and found a fire in the second floor apartment of the Lake Run Condos.
The fire was immediately upgraded, bringing in surrounding fire companies, according to Prospect Heights Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Jones. Police evacuated the entire building while fire crews brought hose lines into the structure to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished within two minutes and efforts were directed to removing smoke from the common areas of the building.

No other units sustained fire damage and all residents have returned to their residences as of 8 a.m., according to Jones. The fire was contained to the unit of origin, limited damage to neighboring residences.
The area fire investigation team, along with the State Fire Marshal, are on scene investigating the cause of the fire. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

Responding fire companies included Wheeling, Mount Prospect, Northbrook, Long Grove, Niles, North Maine, North Field, Glencoe, Glenview, Deerfield and Lincolnshire/Riverwoods.
