Raja Answers Constituent Questions on Wide Range of Issues at Villa Park Town Hall

"I think the biggest challenge our country faces is growing and strengthening the middle class. This has become my life's work"

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi hosted a town hall meeting Saturday at Villa Park’s Willowbrook High School, welcoming his constituents and answering their questions. Over the course of the ninety-minute meeting, Rep. Krishnamoorthi responded to unscreened questions running the gamut from the flaws of a new Republican health care proposal, to the looming possibility of a government shutdown, to the Congressman’s work on behalf of environmental protection and completing the economically essential Elgin O’Hare Western Access project. The town hall was broadcast on Facebook Live for those unable to attend.

“The challenges and division our country faces are significant, but there is still room to come together,” Congressman Krishnamoorthi said after the meeting. “Last month, even as my Republican colleagues and I vehemently disagreed on their health care plan, we were able to come together to work to reduce prescription drug prices.”

“I think the biggest challenge our country faces is growing and strengthening the middle class. This has become my life's work. We need to help more Americans join the middle class and make sure the families who are already in it, stay there. To support those working families, we need to create more good-paying jobs through investing in career training and infrastructure. We need to make sure that men and women earn equal pay for equal work. We need to expand paid family leave and access to quality affordable child care for everyone in the workforce, and we need to keep Medicare and Social Security strong so that growing older does not mean living in poverty.”
