Person In Custody, Shelter In Place Lifted: Village Of Schaumburg
Police were asking residents to stay out of a neighborhood throughout Wednesday due to the presence of an armed person.
SCHAUMBURG, IL — A shelter in place has been lifted Wednesday afternoon as a male has been taken into custody. Residents in the immediate area of the 20 block of Kristin Drive were being asked to shelter in place throughout the day as police conducted a well-being check on an armed person.
At 1:35 p.m., Schaumburg police said in a social media post no injuries have been reported, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Residents in the area are no longer being asked to shelter in place.
"The area remains closed for investigation," police said. "Please avoid the area and use alternate routes."

The initial social media alert was sent at around 10:31 a.m., with police saying at the time there was a large police presence in the area. Police said residents should stay out of the area. The shelter in place order was sent out as an update to the original alert at 10:55 a.m.
At 11:34 a.m., police said southbound Roselle Road at Hillcrest Boulevard and northbound Roselle Road at State Parkway are closed as a result of this situation. As of 1:48 p.m., Roselle Road is now open in both directions.
