Robert Morris University Wins Season's First Home Game, 42-0
The Robert Morris University Eagles defeated Olivet College of Michigan in their season's home opener on Saturday, Sept. 1.

The Robert Morris Football team dominated Olivet College in front of a enthusiastic home opening crowd at Morris Field, pounding the Comets 42-0 to even their record at 1-1.
The Eagles wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Matt Westerkamp connected with Lamont Wims on a 63-yard touchdown on the fourth play from scrimmage with 13:06 to play in the opening quarter.
The defense took their turn on the Comets opening drive, forcing a three-and-out to get the ball back to their offense. Five plays later, Dontrel Chance broke off a 47-yard run for paydirt and Josh Techeira connected on the P.A.T. to put the Eagles up 14-0 with 8:06 left in the first quarter.

The Comets offense continued to sputter against the Eagles defense as they were unable to gain a first down in their first five possessions. Meanwhile, RMU added another touchdown with 1:05 left in the half on 7-yard run by Lamont Wims to cap off an 11-play, 82-yard drive to give the Eagles a 21-0 half-time lead.
The second half was a replay of the first half with the Eagles tacking on three more touchdowns. RMU marched down the field on a 15-play, 90-yard drive that ended with Westerkamp hitting Jamir Stovallon an 8-yard TD pass. The offense then put together an 11-play, 87-yard drive that was capped off by a Neno Jones 2-yard plunge with 6:37 left in the game. TJ Jordan added a 2-yard score of his own with 3:40 left to go for the Eagles 42-0 victory.

The Eagles defense played an impressive game holding the Comets to a mere eight first downs in the game and only 157 yards in total offense. Angelo Parker and Tom Hughes led the teams with 5.5 tackles each.
On the offensive side, Lamont Wims led the Eagles with 205 all-purpose yards (142 yards rushing & 63 yards receiving) while Matt Westerkamp threw for 188 yards on 16-23 passing with two touchdowns.
The Eagles travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Haskell Indian Nations University on Saturday, Sept. 8 with kick-off is set for 12 p.m. Eagles fans can listen to the game live on the Eagles Sports Network.
