Saint Viator Entrance Exam Moves to December
Saint Viator High School's annual entrance exam will take place December 2nd.
In a change from past years, Saint Viator High School will hold its annual entrance exam for 8th grade students interested in attending the school in December this year. Under new scheduling guidelines developed by the Archdiocese of Chicago, the exam will take place December 2nd at 8:00 a.m.
Coming off a highly successful Open House which was also moved forward in the schedule this year, Jason Kuffel, Director of Recruitment at Saint Viator, is anticipating a good turnout on the 2nd. “We had well over 200 8th grade families visit us during the open house,” said Kuffel. “Since the entrance exam is a required part of the admissions process, we always see those open house numbers grow for the test itself.”
All schools in the Archdiocese will administer the High School Placement Test (HSPT), written by Scholastic Testing Services (STS), which measures a student's ability level and achievement levels in reading, mathematics, and language arts. The results of the exam help determine admissions at Saint Viator, along with class placement and opportunities to enter the school’s Querbes Scholars program.

Kuffel also noted that students who need special accommodations for a diagnosed learning difference who submit a request which can also be found on the school’s website. “Our Scott R. Scanlan Center has become an outstanding resource for those who need assistance with learning and we are now pleased to incorporate those accommodations into our entrance exam,” said Kuffel.
