Salt Spa Opens In Downtown Arlington Heights
The Salt Escape is now open in downtown Arlington Heights.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — If you would like to feel like you are at the beach in the middle of the winter in suburban Chicago, a new Himalayan salt therapy spa in downtown Arlington Heights just might be the place for you. Tim Bradley, a retired captain at the Aurora Fire Department, opened The Salt Escape at 70 S. Arlington Heights Road — his second salt spa business in the suburbs after opening his first in Batavia in 2016.
"This is the beach in the winter," Bradley tells customers. "This is your hour to let your mind go."
Customers sit in lounge chairs in the salt therapy room where they breathe in himalayan salt particles and are meant to "help you to clear pollens, viruses, toxins and other pollutants from the body."

According to The Salt Escape website, salt helps your cells consolidate inflammation and mucus, so your body can get rid of it. People with asthma, bronchitis, allergies, cystic fibrosis, psoriasis, and general skin inflammation show major improvement after treatments. There is even some evidence that suggests salt therapy can improve the immune, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems.
The cost for a 50-minute session for an adult at The Salt Escape is $30 and there is also an option for children under 12 years old to visit with a paying adult for $15. The business urges those bringing a child in to call before stopping in.
