School Bus Crashes At Construction Zone Near Restaurant: Schaumburg PD

One student was sent to the hospital Tuesday morning after the driver of another car turned in front of the bus near Five Guys.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A student was taken to an area hospital after a school bus was involved in a crash with another vehicle Tuesday morning in a construction zone near a Schaumburg restaurant. Police tell Patch the crash occurred at 8:28 a.m. near Meacham and Tower roads, where a Five Guys restaurant is located.

Police said the student was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons and minor injuries were reported. The school bus was carrying 40 elementary students at the time of the crash, according to police. Representatives from the school and bus company were on scene shortly after the accident.

A preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a Mercedes SUV turned in front of the bus while traveling in the construction zone. Police said the driver of the Mercedes was cited at the scene.

Traffic at the intersection of Tower Road and McConnor Parkway was backed up following the crash, but the area is clear, and the roadway is open as of 10:30 a.m., according to police.
