Senator John McCain Endorses Ron Drake for Village President

U.S. Senator John McCain has officially given his support to Drake, who is running against incumbent Arlington Heights Trustee Thomas Hayes and Mark Hellner for village president.

Ron Drake, candidate for Village President of Arlington Heights, has officially received the stamp of approval from five term and current United States Senator John McCain (R-Ariz). 

“I am very pleased to endorse Ron Drake for the office of Mayor of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Ron was an extremely effective and energetic leader during his six years as Mayor of Avondale, Arizona and I am certain he will bring those same attributes to serving the people of his home State of Illinois.” – U.S. Sen. Ron Drake worked with Senator McCain for six years while serving as Mayor of Avondale, Arizona. Together they addressed the encroachment issues around Luke Air Force Base and the protection from closure of Luke Air Force Base in the budget process.  

“This endorsement from Senator McCain means a great deal to me personally and politically. As one of the leading Statesmen in the U.S., Sen. McCain has dealt with local, national and international issues for decades. He has always been forthright and concise on his position in dealing with the issues of our day,” said Ron Drake.

“I know that Arlington Heights would benefit from Ron’s positive problem-solving agenda, his focus on economic and community development, and his commitment to open and honest government. Ron Drake was also endorsed by Sen. McCain in his run for Congress in 2006. 

ABOUT RON DRAKE

Ron Drake settled in and has been residing Arlington Heights since 2007 having found the community a perfect fit for his family.  He grew up in Mt. Prospect, IL and graduated from John Hersey High School.  Ron Drake served as Mayor of Avondale, AZ, from 2000 – 2006, where Money Magazine ranked Avondale third in the nation in job growth during his tenure.  Ron Drake brought in more than 2 million sq. ft. of retail development and 500,000 sq. ft. more in commercial development during his time as Mayor.  He also oversaw numerous city infrastructure improvements, a few of which were a new City Hall, Police Administration Building and City Courthouse.
