Senior Living Center Employee Contracts Coronavirus
An employee at Church Creek Senior Living in Arlington Heights has tested positive for COVID-19.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — One staff member but no residents at a senior living center in Arlington Heights have reportedly tested positive for the new coronavirus, the Daily Herald is reporting. The staff member worked only in the memory care section of the senior living community, according to the Daily Herald.
In recent days, Five Star facilities implemented several new procedures to help slow the spread of new coronavirus. Visitation guidelines put in place at the centers restricted all non-essential visitors from entering the communities; required staff members and essential visitors be screened by team members before entering the facility; and mandated those first entering the building use hand sanitize or wash their hands, according to a statement posted on Church Creek's website.
"We have also opted to postpone or cancel all non-medical resident outings and other social events and are adhering to federal and state protocols related to dining where applicable, with social distancing in place at all times for our residents," according to the statement. "Most importantly, our team members are well prepared and specifically trained for infection prevention and control practices."
