Police Sergeant Charged After Firing Gun During Road Rage Incident: Police

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — A 19-year veteran of the Rolling Meadows Police Department has been relived of his duties and placed on administrative leave following a road rage incident involving a gun last week in Elgin. Carlos Saez, who was promoted to sergeant in 2019, got into a traffic dispute with another driver and fired a gun, according to Rolling Meadows police.

Last Wednesday, Elgin police responded to the 1100 block of Dundee Avenue in Elgin for a dispute involving a firearm. Police said they believe the incident began as a traffic dispute. The dispute involved a physical altercation between two people, during which time the gun was fired.

Saez was with charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery in a public way and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Police tell Patch an internal investigation is underway and is being conducted by the Rolling Meadows Police Department.
