'Serious Crash' Slowing Traffic On IL-53 Near Arlington Heights: Illinois State Police

State troopers are continuing to investigate the crash Wednesday afternoon with several lanes of traffic currently closed.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A "serious crash" is slowing traffic Wednesday afternoon on Illinois 53, according to Illinois State Police. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes near Palatine Road.

ISP sent out a traffic advisory regarding the crash on social media at around 1:30 p.m. The left two lanes of traffic will be shut down for an extended period of time, according to the post.

"Slow down and move over as you approach the area," police said. "Expect delays."
