Woman Robbed By Armed Man At Woodfield Mall In Schaumburg: Police

SCHAUMBURG, IL — An armed man robbed a woman of her purse Thursday afternoon in a parking lot at Woodfield Mall. The man was later apprehended by police in Oak Brook after fleeing the area.

Police tell Patch the incident occurred in a parking lot on the south side of the mall at around 1:30 p.m. The man, armed with a handgun, took the purse and left the scene in a black Mazda. The victim was not injured.

Police utilized the Real Time Information Center video to quickly provide surrounding jurisdictions with a detailed description of the suspect and vehicle. The vehicle and suspect were subsequently located in Oak Brook a short time later. Oak Brook police were able to apprehend the suspect at approximately 2:20 p.m. A coordinated investigation by the two police departments is ongoing.
