Shots Fired During Confrontation Outside Restaurant: Des Plaines PD

Police said the incident occurred Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of La Marina Mariscos.

DES PLAINES, IL — A shooting between two males occurred Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of La Marina Mariscos. According to Des Plaines police, it is believed the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the public.

Police responded to a report of shots being fired at around 2 p.m. at the restaurant at 1261 E. Algonquin Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that a male had entered the restaurant looking for a specific person. The person he was looking for reportedly exited a different door, at which time the two confronted each other in the parking lot. They exchanged gunfire, and both males fled the scene, one on foot and the other in a blue pick-up truck.

Police said no injuries from the incident have been reported.

Eight spent shell casings, six .40 caliber casings and two 9mm casings were recovered by police. Officers also recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun in the rear of the business near a dumpster.
