Shots Fired At School In Mount Prospect; Pursuit Follows: Police

Mount Prospect police responded to Robert Frost School Wednesday before getting in a high-speed pursuit that spilled out onto I-294.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL — Following a 911 call at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding gunshots being fired at a field near Robert Frost School, the Mount Prospect Police Department ended up in a high-speed pursuit after a group of people possibly involved. Police tell Patch that the chase eventually ended on I-294.

In addition, two men accused of being directly involved with the shooting at the school fled northbound prior to police arrival at Robert Frost and have not been located, according to police.

Police tell Patch they have also not located anyone who may have been struck by gunshots and the investigation is ongoing. Police believe it to be an isolated incident.

As units were responding to the school, witnesses informed dispatch that people involved fled the scene in the minivan. An officer responding to the school located the vehicle traveling southbound on Wolf Road, south of Camp McDonald Road. The officer activated their emergency lights and sirens and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, according to police.

The vehicle continued to drive, failing to stop for officers, and eventually entered onto southbound Interstate 294, according to police. During the continued pursuit, the minivan stopped due to a flat tire, south of Oakton Street. Officers stopped traffic on I-294 and conducted a high-risk traffic stop of the minivan.

The four occupants of the minivan were transported back to the Mount Prospect Police Department for further questioning and the minivan was also towed back to the department.
