St. Raymond School Volleyball Teams Host 6th Annual “Volley for the Cure” With Proceeds Benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

To
support National Breast Cancer Awareness month, the sixth, seventh, and eighth
grade girls’ volleyball teams from St. Raymond School (Mount Prospect) will
host St. Anne (Barrington), St. Emily (Mount Prospect), The Willows Academy
(Des Plaines) and St. Catherine Laboure School (Glenview) at its sixth annual
“Volley for the Cure” volleyball fundraising event Friday, October 4, 2013 in
St. Raymond’s Parish Life Center (gym) at the corner of Lincoln and I-Oka
streets.  Organized by St. Raymond School
parent Beth Menczywor, the event will raise funds for the Breast Cancer
Research Foundation.  Admission is $2 and
will be given to the foundation.  Tickets
can be purchased at the door.

St.
Raymond’s seventh grade girls’ black* volleyball team will begin the
competition with a 3:55 p.m. match versus Willows Academy; at 5 p.m. St.
Raymond’s sixth grade girls play St. Anne; at 6:05 p.m. St. Raymond’s seventh
grade girls’ white team plays St. Anne; at 7:10 p.m. St. Raymond’s eighth grade
white team takes on St. Emily; and the event concludes with a 8:15 p.m. match
between St. Raymond’s eighth grade black team and St. Catherine.  (*Note:
St. Raymond seventh and eighth grade girls’ volleyball teams are divided into
two equal teams due to the large number of girls participating.  “Black” and “white” team designations
represent the school colors.)

“St. Raymond's Volley for The Cure event is a great way to create
awareness about breast cancer in a way that is positive and encouraging while
also being informative,” said Menczywor.  “The players really look forward to this event
each year. Volley for The Cure is such an uplifting experience for all
involved.”
