State Sen. Gillespie Encourages Young Readers To Join Summer Book Club
State Senator Ann Gillespie (D-Arlington Heights) said the club is open to all 27th Senate District students.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Summer is filled with plenty of fun activities for young people, including reading. State Senator Ann Gillespie (D-Arlington Heights) is encouraging local students to join the 27th Senate District Summer Book Club.
"Reading helps students develop critical thinking skills, expand their vocabulary and learn about different cultures and perspectives," Gillespie said. "I hope students will pick up a book and enjoy being transported to another world."
According to Gillespie's office, students must read eight books of their choice during the summer break, record the names of the books on a form and return the form to Gillespie’s office by Aug. 18 to be part of the club. Each student who completes the Summer Book Club will receive a gift card to Kilwins.
