Tobacco Products Stolen in Gas Station Robbery: Police

The Arlington Heights Police Department is also investigating reports of a tire taken from a parked car and snow plows that were stolen.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Authorities in Arlington Heights responded to various crime reports, which included several thefts and burglaries in recent weeks. Here is a closer look at some of those crime reports:

  • A wheel, including the tire, rim, hubcap and lug nuts, were removed from the driver's side of a vehicle parked in an apartment complex parking lot in the 2400 block of North Kennicott Drive between 7 and 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, authorities said. Authorities have not located the offender or offenders, according to the police report. The total value of the stolen property is about $280.
  • Between 7 to 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, lawn equipment was taken from the front lawn at a home in the 2400 block of North Kennicott Drive, according to authorities. Landscapers who were working on the property had left the equipment unattended when the theft occurred. The total value of the equipment is about $500.
  • Between 9 p.m. on Aug. 14 and 6:35 a.m. on Aug. 15, an unknown offender or offenders broke the window at the Citgo gas station, 1315 E. Palatine Road, and stole tobacco products from the gas station, according to authorities. Staff at the gas station is completing a thorough inventory at the location before determining the total retail value of the items stolen, police said.
  • A thief attempted to steal items from Lowe's Home Improvement, 990 W. Algonquin Road, but ended up dropping it while fleeing the location following the theft this past week, according to police reports. The man allegedly concealed the items and then left the store without paying for the merchandise. He was last seen running north away from the store and dropped the merchandise outside the store while fleeing the scene, authorities said. The stolen property was recovered. Police described the alleged thief as a white man who was wearing a black sweatshirt, dark pants and a blue fishing hat at the time of the incident.
  • A woman stole items from Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road, between 1:07 and 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 16. She took a black and white checkered shirt, black Adidas pants and black sandals and concealed the items in a gray plastic Kohl's shopping bag, which she put into a backpack and left the store, according to police. She was last seen leaving the area in a blue Dodge Neon. The alleged thief is described as a black woman and the driver of the Neon is described as a black man. The value of the stolen merchandise is under investigation at this time pending a full merchandise inventory by Kohl’s staff, according to the police report.
  • Two snow plows parked, locked and chained up behind Elite business suite, 601 W. Campus Drive, were stolen in recent weeks, police said. The equipment was taken at some point between July 1 and Aug. 18. The value of the stolen snow plows is around $9,500.
  • Three people are accused of eating food and drinking beverages at a Denny's Restaurant, 17 W. Algonquin Road, and then leaving without paying, police said. The incident occurred at about 7:16 a.m. on Aug. 16. Police described the first offender as a white male who is about 5-feet 10-inches tall with a thin build and blond hair. He was wearing a green long-sleeved shirt and dark cargo pants. The second offender is described as a white woman with leg tattoos who was wearing a pink crop top and shorts. The third offender is described as a white woman with leg tattoos who was wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, a black shirt and shorts. The offenders were last seen leaving the area in a gray sedan with an Illinois license plate. The approximate value of the unpaid bill is about $40.
