United Employees Get 30% Pay Hike With New 5-Year Contract

United Airlines employees have a new five-year contract that gives workers increases in their salaries and pension benefits.
The contract was approved Saturday by the airline and the workers union, which represents about 30,000 airport employees and other staff, the Chicago Tribune reports, adding that the deal had taken about four months to work out.

Under the new agreement, employees will receive about a 30-percent pay hike over the length of the contract and retirement benefits also will be raised, the report stated.
United already agreed on separate contracts with its pilots and dispatchers and is currently negotiating deals with its attendants and technicians, the report added.
