Village Denies Liquor License For Restaurant Owner
The owner of Mowa was cited earlier this year for selling alcohol to a minor.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Arlington Heights trustees denied a liquor license for a recent college graduate's Korean fried chicken restaurant, the Daily Herald reports. The trustees voted 8-1 Monday night against allowing business owner Doug Kim to serve alcohol at Mowa, 4216 N. Arilngton Heights Road, after he allegedly was cited earlier this year for serving a minor at his dad's restaurant, San Korean Cuisine.
Trustees also questioned Kim during Monday's meeting about his failure to disclose information regarding his citation for serving alcohol to a minor in his application for the Mowa liquor license, according to the article. He also missed his first liquor license interview with the village, village officials said.
"I'm really concerned you really want this, but my comfort level is that I just need you to be more responsible for this liquor license," trustee John Scaletta said during the meeting. "Serving an underage person, making mistakes on your application, and missing your first liquor license interview gives me great concern that you're not taking it as seriously as we are.
