Village's Fall Leaf 2 For 1 Collection Underway In Arlington Heights
Raking or blowing leaves into the street from a resident's private property or the Village's parkway violates Village ordinance.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Running through Dec. 13, the Village's Fall Leaf 2 for 1 collection program is underway Residents are allowed to place two bags for every one sticker at curbs to be collected on their normal collection day.
Officials said leaves should not be blown or raked into the street. Raking or blowing leaves into the street from a resident's private property or the Village's parkway violates Village ordinance.
In addition, residents are responsible for reminding landscapers not to move leaves into the street. Leaves piled in the street create a hazard for the entire neighborhood by clogging drains during rainstorms, causing unnecessary flooding. Officials said a leaf-covered street can also create a slippery road surface.

If Village street sweeper crews reasonably identify leaves intentionally placed in the street, they are instructed to go around those piles of leaves.
