Wheeling Man Killed While Walking On I-53 In Palatine: Police
The 37-year-old was walking across live lines of travel Sunday night, according to Illinois State Police.
PALATINE, IL — A 37-year-0ld Wheeling man was struck and killed by a car Sunday night after police said he was walking across live lanes of travel on Interstate 53.
The deceased was identified Monday morning as Saul Hernandez by the Cook County Medial Examiner's Office.
The incident occurred at around 4:56 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-53, south of Lake Cook Road. The pedestrian was struck by a gray Tesla. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Lanes were initially closed and reopened at around 8:17 p.m. Police said an investigation is ongoing.
