Woman Dead, Others Injured Following Car Crash: Elk Grove Village PD

The intersection where the late Tuesday evening crash occurred was closed for the morning commute.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — A Des Plaines woman was killed, and several other people were hospitalized, following a late Tuesday evening car crash. According to police, the crash involving two cars occurred at around 11:22 p.m. at the intersection of Biesterfield and Meacham roads.

Police said all people involved in the crash were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries.

The intersection remained closed for the Wednesday morning commute as police continued an investigation. It reopened at 8:20 a.m.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office lists that a 45-year-0ld Des Plaines woman died at the intersection, but hasn't released her identity or cause of death. WFLD is reporting the deceased was a mother of five.

From a preliminary investigation, police said the crash involved a northbound Lexus, occupied by three children and one adult, and an eastbound Honda, occupied by one adult. The latter was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead. Police believe the Lexus had disobeyed a red traffic signal at the intersection.

The occupants of the Lexus were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. All occupants of the Lexus were treated and released, according to police.

Assisting on this crash investigation were members of the Major Case Assistance Team — Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction, members of the Addison, Wood Dale, Itasca, Bensenville, Roselle, Rolling Meadows, and Schaumburg Police Departments, and the Elk Grove Village Public Works.
