World-Class Canine Competition Begins Friday In Schaumburg

More than 200 dog breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club will be competing for top prizes.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The dogs are set to take over the village this weekend. From Friday through Sunday, The Great American Dog Show will feature more than 200 dog breeds competing for top prizes at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center.

The three-day world-class canine competition will feature dogs recognized by the American Kennel Club. Each day, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., spectators will have a chance to watch some of the world's premier show dogs at 1551 N. Thoreau Road.

Organizers are billing the event as "affordable entertainment and education for dog lovers of all ages." A family of four can enjoy the festivities for less than $100. Special features and activities for children and educational opportunities to learn more about dogs, training, caring for them and what you can do with your dog at home.
