AURORA, IL — A pickup truck rolled onto its side Tuesday afternoon as a result of a hit-and-run crash near Bilter and Eola roads, Aurora police said.
The crash occurred around 4:23 p.m. near the westbound Interstate 88 on-off ramp. Bystanders helped the driver get out of the car before first responders arrived, department spokesperson Jim Levicki told Patch.
Levicki could not say what caused the crash.
The car that hit the truck initially fled the scene but was later located. The driver was cited for failure to remain at the scene of a vehicle damage accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disregard of a traffic control device and improper lane usage, police said.
No serious injuries were reported, according to Levicki. One passenger suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
The crash caused temporary congestion due to lane closures. The road was fully reopened by about 5:24 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
